| Message
to the Government: We want Partnership
for Sustainable Development! |
| Zagreb,
1 October 2003 |
At
the Round table organised within the
framework of EMAT, the First International
Fair on Environment, Eco-Technology
and Municipal Services, the HR BCSD
invited the Government to collaborate
with business and civil sector when
preparing decisions on development policies
and new legislation. The Government
unjustly excludes them from the process
of developing decisions that will influence
their performances and the development
of the country. Knowledge and experience
of both business and civil sector would
certainly contribute to a higher quality
of decisions and documents that are
usually hastily prepared without being
discussed with the stakeholders. Once
they enter into force, they will create
new problems rather than mitigate the
existing ones. Eight panellists advocated
the business case - leaders of the BCSD
member-companies and a high representative
of the Croatian Employers' Association.
The Round table brought together some
seventy participants, most of them from
business and media and only a few governmental
representatives. |
